Anime Cult Classic Kite Gets Hollywood Remake

Sankaku Complex cites this article and reports that Snakes on a Plane and The Final Destination director David R. Ellis is slated to do a remake of the cult classic and controversial 1998 anime Kite by Yasuomi Umetsu next year.

Kite was one of many cool animes I watched late at night during my youth and it's a name notorious for its ultra-violent scenes, being banned not only for child pornography in several countries.

Well, I guess we can add another name to the many beloved anime all-star franchises being remade in Hollywood right now (don't forget Akira) – a trend that makes me go barf! whenever I read about it.

Sounds interesting! I think I'm going to watch one of the "old" episodes after I finished Death Note! :)
