Double Fine Adventure Collects $1,200,000+ Kickstarter Funding

Yesterday, news went around the net that renowned adventure game designer Tim Schafer along with his crew posted a new point-and-click project on Kickstarter, tentatively called a Double Fine Adventure, since no big company is backing or releasing adventures professionally anymore, apparently.

If Schafer's name didn't ring any bell, his famous projects of the past certainly will: Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle – need I say more? And here's the awesome thing: It took only 8 hours for the project on Kickstarter to reach its goal of a $400,000 sum funding. Even more awesome: The project has actually racked up over $1,200,000 in the last 24 hours!

To me, that shows that there are indeed way more people than me craving the return of some good old point-and-click goodness, and that there are enough people who haven't forgotten Schafer's genre landmarks of the past, which are still loved way more than any modern game about warfare will ever be.

You can find a lot more interesting stuff about the upcoming game on doublefine.com or at the Kickstarter project page. And here's Schafer's funny announcement clip:
